AirDrop from Android to a Mac: what works in 2026
Since November 2025, Google's Quick Share can send files to Apple devices over AirDrop. It works on a growing list of recent phones, with one catch on the Mac side.
Updated October 4, 2026
Which phones can AirDrop to a Mac
The list keeps growing. As of 9to5Google's list of June 3, 2026, these phones can send with AirDrop through Quick Share:
- Google Pixel 10 and Pixel 9 models, and the Pixel 8a.
- Samsung Galaxy S24, S25 and S26 models, Z Fold6, Z Fold7, Z Flip6 and Z Flip7, on One UI 8.5.
- OnePlus 15, Xiaomi 17T Pro, Oppo Find X9 models and Find N6, Vivo X300 models and Honor Magic V6.
The catch: Everyone mode
AirDrop between Android and Apple only works in Everyone mode, because contacts-only sharing does not work across the two. So each time you send, your Mac's AirDrop has to be open to everyone nearby, not just your contacts.
When your phone is not on the list, or you want more
DroidPort is a Mac app that pairs once with the free KDE Connect app on your Android phone, then reconnects by itself. There is no sharing mode to switch on each time.
- Drop files or a whole folder onto DroidPort to send them to the phone.
- Share a file from the phone to your Mac, and it saves into the folder you pick.
- Browse your phone's photos and videos, and drag them straight into Finder.
- Bring copied text from your phone to your Mac.
- Read and reply to your texts, and see your phone's notifications on the Mac.

Choose DroidPort if your phone is not on the list, or you want your phone's photos, texts and alerts on your Mac every day as well as files.
Questions people ask
Can my Android phone AirDrop to my Mac?
If it is on Google's supported list, yes, through Quick Share, with AirDrop on your Mac set to Everyone. Phones that are not on the list cannot use it yet.
Can I send files between any Android phone and a Mac without a cable?
Yes. DroidPort sends files in either direction over your local Wi-Fi network, using the free KDE Connect app on the phone.
Do my files go through a cloud service?
Not with DroidPort. It talks to your phone directly over your local network. There is no DroidPort cloud and no account.
